Position Title: Sr Software Engineer II

External Description:

We are looking for a Technical Director to lead our Apex Platform Group, an engineering group that supports the engine that drives Apex Legends – everything from rendering and audio to streaming across five platforms. As a Technical Director, you will work with the other Apex TDs and discipline leaders such as art, animation, game design, and audio as the technical expert for the team and partner with them to create and deliver against roadmaps for the future of Apex's technology base.

As a leader for our technical team you will help empower our creators to deliver the highest quality game for our players

 

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and mentor the APG engineering team, creating opportunities for challenge and growth
• Work with technical leads to produce and update 2 and 5 year tech roadmaps for Apex
• Encompassing audio, memory, rendering, CPU and GPU performance, platforms, resource management, content delivery, loading times, etc.
• Including refactoring and drawing down technical debt
• Enable the content creators with budgets and appropriate tools
• Establish high-level architecture, processes, and technical budgets for the above domains
• Ensure the quality, performance, and stability of technical deliverables
• Manage technical requirements and risks, removing roadblocks and raising red flags, etc.
• Establish engineering team key metrics
• Working with external engineering partners to deliver key platforms / features
• Work with Quality Engineering on automation initiatives to aid with QA
• Work with Apex Build & Release to create dashboards against key metrics
• Manage and set directives for Apex Foundations Team (a group of Principle Engineers dedicated to solving complex technical challenges in the Engine)
• Work with other departmental leads foster good communication and solid working relationships

Qualifications

• 10+ years software development experience
• 5+ years of technical leadership experience as TD / Senior Engineer (with reports)
• Shipped at least two AAA titles
• Mediation, and conflict resolution skills
• Experience working with remote teams
• A passion for making and playing games
