The challenge ahead

EA is seeking a transformational leader for the Director of Architecture role to power the journey of making Employee Experience platform. This key leadership role will be responsible for the solution and technology architecture for the Employee Experience platform.

The scope of architecture responsibilities include the following platforms/sub systems:

  1. Employee Engagement Platform
  2. Digital Workplace
  3. Unified communication and collaboration systems
  4. Talent systems
  5. Device management platform
  6. Operational tools
  7. Integration fabric – Identity, Connections, Trust and Analytics

Critical responsibilities include:

  • Taking a long view of the technology architecture to align with the employee experience products
  • Developing roadmaps and technology standards to realize the employee experience platform vision
  • Strategizing the approach to blend packaged applications and custom solutions to create work experiences tailored to EA and enable our employees to perform the best work of their lives.
  • Working with Business partners to understand partner needs and delivering incrementally on their highest priority features and requirements
  • Work towards maturing the engineering roles within Employee Experience and evangelizing adoption of the EE platform as part of the future EE engineering capabilities
  • Champion the adoption of the cloud, engineering, and standards needed to truly enable efficient, highly scalable, performance, and supportable solutions.
  • Collaborate with other groups within EA IT, EADP, and across EA to break down high level requirements into actionable development strategies & roadmaps
  • Participate in different proof of concept projects, experimenting with full stack of technologies and solutions
  • Identify and create mitigation plans for technical risks
  • Evangelize the robust documentation practices to facilitate speedy developer ramp up and operational and sustaining support for all solutions
  • Ensure the team has the tools, technical processes and best practices in place
  • Coaching engineering: Be a role model, coach and mentor for other members of the team to grow as architects, engineers and developers

This role will require that you work with a global engineering team and partner with other cross functional teams.   You will closely partner with IT’s Operational teams, Program/Product Management, IT’s Applications teams, and with other partner organizations in the broader CTO organization including the EA Digital Platform Cloud Team, the Technical Operations teams, and EA Security.

Required skills and experience

  • Architecture leadership of technology platforms at large enterprise scale
  • Proven track record of results oriented architecture management in a globally distributed IT team, developing a compelling vision, and driving excellence in engineering
  • Very strong interpersonal skills; able to build relationships, credibility and influence in a globally distributed highly collaborative and high-performance environment; ability to interact and effectively communicate at all levels of the organization, including C-Suite level interactions
  • Hands-on and diverse application engineering knowledge; ability to translate product vision into key capabilities of Employee Experience Platform
  • Deep experience with cloud container technologies, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, Cloud Delivery Pipelines and Serverless public cloud services. Strong knowledge of public cloud ecosystems such as AWS and Azure is critical.
  • Broad experience with Internet scale technologies – NoSQL databases (Mongo, Cassandra, Redis), Javascript, Nodejs, Python, Angular JS/React
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills that result in conclusive recommendations / decisions
  • Excellent change management skills and ability to drive change campaigns
  • Demonstrated successful career progression in broad and diverse IT organizations
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced and highly dynamic work environment
  • Able to thrive in an environment that requires a high degree of autonomy, integrity and accountability

Qualifications

  • BS degree in computer science or software engineering
  • Extensive experience with technology architecture and delivery roles
