Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Technical Artist to join the team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong problem-solving mentality and will be fearless in the face of new technologies and tools. You will be mostly working on setting up production-ready environments and presets on a game engine. This means dealing with multiple 3D assets and workflows including characters, scenery, cameras, animation, lights, VFX, and rendering.

You will work alongside a creative team of artists to ensure our marketing assets are delivered to the highest quality and compete on a world class level. You will have the responsibility to support our artists and make sure they can be as creative and productive as possible so that technical problems do not stand in their way. You may also contribute to shot layout, technical application, and general cinematic content production to achieve the final creative vision as set forward by your Art/Creative Director. You will report to the Senior Technology Lead.

Responsibilities:

  • You approach new technologies and technical challenges with determination. If it's a game engine, you can make it work regardless of which one it is.
  • You understand DCC/Real-time production pipelines and how to manage different asset types.
  • Help setting up cinematic shots, lookdev scenes, and reusable prefabs.
  • Understand, review, and improve existing node-based visual scripting logic for game entities and rendering processes, as well as designing and implementing new logic when needed.
  • Provide hands-on support to artists and engineers regarding asset performance and validation.
  • You identify bugs and pipeline inefficiencies and have the knowledge and experience to design effective solutions to those issues.
  • You can speak the same language as our engineers and participate in meaningful discussion with these partners; you bridge the gap between engineers and content creators.
  • You understand the long-term effects of pipeline decisions and lend your technical expertise to team members and partners to build robust, scalable, and simple to maintain solutions.
  • You write clear documentation and generate effective training materials about content production workflows.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience (digital content creation pipelines with a focus on cinematics)
  • 3+ years of Frostbite, Unreal, or Unity experience
  • Experience with real-time workflows and the technical hurdles/limitations associated
  • Experience with source control software like Perforce or Git
  • Experience with visual node-based scripting systems

Bonus Skills

  • Familiarity with 3D DCC tools such as Autodesk Maya, MotionBuilder, 3dsMax, or Blender.
  • Experience creating simulations in Houdini.
  • Experience developing custom tools for Digital Content Creation (DCC)
  • Knowledge of high-level coding language (Python, C#, mel scripting)
