Our Motive is to develop innovative action games set in iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let's say that again—iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero.
Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star Wars™: Squadrons to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space™. Currently, we're working on two exciting projects, an original Iron Man™ action-adventure game and what's coming next for Battlefield™.
We believe in sharing our passion with our community and each other, fostering an inclusive culture, and nurturing a growth mindset. Although our approach may seem simple, it leads us to create the best work of our careers, bringing unique and immersive experiences to our players.
Motive Studios is looking for a Technical Artist to help oversee the performance-related aspects of our next Battlefield™ title. You will have high-level artistic sensibilities and strong technical skills; the ability to work with the art and software engineering teams to ensure world-class performance and quality. You must be passionate about making great games, be a strong problem-solver and an effective communicator. This is a permanent position based in Montreal (QC), Canada, and requires working onsite.
The Challenge ahead
Reporting to the Technical Art Director, this Technical Artist will support the greater art team with practical implementation and as part of our runtime Performance Team. You will assist the team with technical solutions in the engine, helping define budgets for content & reporting on project performance..

Responsibilities
- Report and communicate any concerns regarding a potential mismatch between artistic goals and practical reality.
- Provide technical feedback to project leaders on their performance and budgets.
- Provide in-depth performance evaluations of content and scenes to team members with recommended actions.
- Provide technical expertise around performance to help facilitate decisions.
- Performance profiling and review bugs to stay on top of any issues.
- Provide clear guidance on technical performance constraints, maintain assets and help define asset budgets.
