In the Technical Operations group of Creative Technologies, we build solutions for our customers (Game Teams.) We empower game creators to make an impact; our success is measured not by mandating customer loyalty, but by becoming their preferred choice through the quality of our service and execution.

We are shaping a new division within Creative Technologies - the Technical Operations group - to propel projects in Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) and Cloud infrastructure. You will report directly to the Head of Technical Operations - Creative Technologies, leading the Production/Project Management and FinOps functions for the Technical Operations team.

Your responsibilities include managing a team of production experts, developing production plans, and establishing a FinOps function for forecasting and cost management of cloud infrastructure. Your success requires experience in Production, and experience in shipping games. You will challenge your creativity and draw on your experience to establish streamlined processes that promote our best work.

Important Responsibilities

Lead the Production / Project Management function for Technical Operations:

  • Lead the production team for Technical Operations (Infrastructure, ML Ops, and Game Development Workflows):

    • Lead the work of the production team.

    • Build skills of the production team.

  • Create Production Strategy for Technical Operations:

    • Production philosophy & pillars.

    • Assess overall project direction, planning & scope.

    • Translate project vision into organisational needs.

  • Build processes Technical Operations:

    • Organisation and Communication:

      • Manage staffing needs.

      • Implement, improve rituals.

      • Communicate regular updates to all partners.

    • Project Management:

      • Budget management.

      • Predictable development.

      • Schedule and task management.

      • Plan, prioritisation, and scope management.

      • Quality and risk management.

    • Daily execution:

      • Hands-on with JIRA and Confluence, to allow daily work of of tasking / scheduling.

  • Work with Creative Technologies Head of Operations & Delivery to ensure the Technical Operations group is aligned with studio-wide practices and provides transparency in project statuses, budgets, and staff planning.

  • Contribute to studio culture, monitor team health, and help evolve our culture following our values.

Lead the FinOps function for Technical Operations:

  • Stand up a new FinOps function for Technical Operations.

  • Lead this responsibility and perform hands-on work in it, including:

    • Measure spend.

    • Optimization (pricing, architecture - with influence and collaboration)

    • Forecasting (how do we forecast, when do we forecast, how often do we update, how do we compare forecast to actuals.)

    • Guardrail automation (alerts for spend, restrictions to follow budgets).

Qualifications

General experience and qualifications:

  • Experience shipping at least two AAA titles as part of a large game development team (100+ members).

  • Work with partners from multiple disciplines: product management, art, design, and engineering.

  • Proficiency in risk management.

  • Comfortable working in a remote or hybrid environment.

  • Willing to travel to meet in person with team members / partners.

Required experience and qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in Project Management in environments such as games, tech, entertainment/media and similar, with increasing levels of responsibility.

  • 10+ years of experience in game development, in roles such as Development Director, Production Director, or similar, working on large features / scoped areas of game development.

  • 7+ years of experience as a People Manager.

  • Project management skills in designing and implementing fundamental processes.

  • FinOps skills in modelling cost scenarios, creating forecasts, and so on.

  • Comprehension of multiple domains in game development (e.g. Build and Release, Tech Art, and so on), and hands-on experience being a Project Manager for a team working in infrastructure / backend / online development.

  • Experience with operations: staff planning, budgeting, and so on.

Management skills required:

  • Instill a culture that prioritises game teams as valued customers, ensuring their needs are met at the forefront of product delivery and the decision-making process.

  • Mentor, coach, and aid in the development of team members.

  • Set clear goals and achieve them.

  • Negotiate with partners, vendors, and other team members.

 


US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.


BASE SALARY RANGES

• California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
º $185,300 - $278,800 USD Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
