External Description:

Operations Program Manager (9-month contract)

Role requirement includes hybrid on-site office presence in Victoria, Canada

THIS IS A 9-MONTH TEMPORARY FULL-TIME POSITION COVERING A MATERNITY LEAVE.

Electronic Arts Inc. is a leading global interactive entertainment software company. EA delivers games, content and online services for Internet-connected consoles, personal computers, mobile phones and tablets.

The team at Metalhead comes from diverse backgrounds, unified by a passion to make original games. We've supported and inspired each other through the development and evolution of the Super Mega Baseball series and have built a fiercely loyal fanbase in the process. And we get to do it all from downtown Victoria. We're growing the studio and hope you'll consider joining us.

As a leader in our operational team and reporting to the Studio Director, you'll help our smaller studio function smoothly within the larger organisation. You'll be responsible for overseeing studio operations, facilitating and empowering the development team to focus on product development.

At the studio level, you'll focus on:

  • Team health: you will understand, document and guide studio and team health initiatives, and will advocate on behalf of the local studio team.
  • Talent development initiatives: you will take organization-wide processes and implement them at the studio level, including performance and rewards management processes, goal setting, and learning and development initiatives.
  • Culture and employee experience: you will oversee studio-level employee engagement initiatives including event planning, cross-team connections and DEI initiatives.
  • Studio operations management: you will manage the local studio budget, approve procurements, run regular studio operations meetings, manage studio health KPIs, drive studio adoption of EA policies, and assist as non-product centric operational tasks arise.
  • Hire & onboarding process: you will support team growth through managing the studio-wide hiring and onboarding/offboarding processes.
  • Local facility management: you will oversee operations of the physical studio space and will recommend policies relating to the space. This will include supporting our local office relocation and advocating on behalf of our local team needs to ensure that the space is functional, fit for purpose and conducive to support our working needs.
  • Operational Responsibility: you will build a bridge between the larger organisation and the Metalhead studio by being a POC to several team member groups, providing guidance and communication where needed (human resources, legal, facilities, talent management, finance, operations, human resources, corporate comms).
  • Studio communications: Communicate studio-wide changes and initiatives with the team, leadership and important partner teams.

Qualities we're looking for:

  • Excitement to work out of our Victoria, BC office 3 days per week (minimum)
  • Desire to take ownership, provide leadership and find solutions
  • Experience leading, persuading, and making decisions
  • Partner management expertise
  • Put the team first, with a willingness to step outside of core responsibilities when needed, along with the rest of our team
  • Keep track of many projects at the same time

Bonus points for…

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in a relevant field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience

Regardless of your specialisation, a few things we're always looking for:

  • A sense of humility and ability to thrive in a team environment. You look for help when you're stuck and you want to help your teammates when they need it.
  • A knack for managing your time. You know when to go deeper on a task versus recognising that it's time to get 'er done and move on to the next thing. Quality is important, but so is speed!
  • A willingness to branch into areas outside your core expertise. It's just a fact of life in a small studio as we adapt to the changing demands at each stage of a project.
  • Drive to execute. Projects you've worked on in the past (personal or professional) got finished… and it had a lot to do with you.
  • A sense of humor. At least enough that you can tolerate our jokes.
