Our motive is to create innovative action games within iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let's say that again—iconic worlds, where every player feels like the hero.
Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star Wars™: Squadrons, to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space™, and now to building an original Iron Man action-adventure video game.
We believe in sharing our passion with our community, and with each other by having transparent discussions, by practicing an inclusive culture, and by nurturing a continuous growth mindset. Our approach feels simple, but it leads to the best work of our careers, and as a team, building unique and immersive experiences.
Motive is looking for a Senior Technical Animator specializing in runtime animation systems, processes and workflows to join its Iron Man team using Unreal Engine 5. You will report to the Technical Animation Director and collaborate with the animation and gameplay teams, along with other technical animators, to build and maintain animation pipelines, workflows, and runtime systems, bringing to life our next AAA title.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the animation and gameplay teams to understand their process and needs.
- Implement and support animation pipelines and content integrations.
- Troubleshoot tools and workflows related technical issues with the animation team.
- Guide and tutor animation staff on project best practices.
- Act as a subject matter liaison within the wider EA development community.
Requirements:
- Familiarity with animation principles and the nature of animating for games.
- Familiarity with advanced game engines like Unreal, Unity and others
- Experience integrating animation content into a game engine.
- Understanding of the motion capture process and the data it produces.
- Experience with runtime animation systems, concepts, and constraints.
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging runtime animation systems.
- Proficient in the use of Maya for animation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Holds their work to high standards and desires to meet and exceed expectations.
- Strong teamwork skills while also retaining the ability to take ownership and work independently.
- Passion for making games look and play great.
Supplemental Skills:
- Experience creating or maintaining animation workflows and tools within DCC applications.
- Experience writing scripts/tools in Python.
- Experience creating animation rigs for games.
- MotionBuilder experience.
