Position Title: Technical Director I

For development teams looking to increase efficiencies and improve quality of their software, one of the most important places to focus is the software build process. This is where EA Development Release and Engineering comes in (DRE).

We are looking for a Technical Director to oversee the technical strategies and product development of the Skybuild development team. Skybuild is a new product designed to evolve CICD across the entirety of EA.

You will report to a Senior Technical Director to organize the plans for the Skybuild product, and integration within the other tooling and workflows within the development portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • You'll work with the strategic direction of evolving the Continuous Integration and Deployment systems for the build systems building EA’s games using Azure DevOps and tools like Infrastructure as Code and advanced virtualization.

  • You will negotiate requirements with multiple partners, developing these into detailed backlog items and then work with the team to ensure they are delivered as forecasted.

  • Manage communication and product feedback from the direct product stakeholders.

  • Understand, document and share the needs of the direct stakeholders.

  • Ensure the portfolio manager and owner are aware of specific stakeholder needs.

  • Communicate with the technical lead and delivery manager to ensure alignment on technical requirements and deadlines.

  • Ensure that the value and overall business needs are understood.

  • Work with the development managers to ensure that the roadmaps and estimates are up to date.

  • Work with the developers on a daily basis to ensure priorities are clear and understood.

  • Work with Technical Lead(s) to defines clear definitions of done for each of the upcoming tasks.

  • Work with the Technical Lead(s) to discuss deadlines, deliverables, implementation details.

  • Work with the Technical Lead(s) to ensure following of good software practices and ensured continued improvement and testing.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with CI/CD systems and practices.

  • At least five years' experience from multiple disciplines with software development and practices.

  • By your experience you have a superb understanding and feel for the full flow of software production, from requirements to deliverables.

  • Experience in strategic leadership in a technical domain.

  • You know good software architecture.

Useful to have:

  • Technical mentoring and interest in people leadership.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Gitlab or similar CI software.

  • Experience with Server Configuration Management.

  • Usage and management of source control tooling (e.g Perforce, Git).

  • Interest and knowledge of Agile methodologies.

  • Proficient in object-oriented and scripting languages (e.g JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Java, Groovy, Python, Ruby)

  • Experience with PowerShell.

  • Experience in issue tracking and shared documentation systems such as Jira and Confluence.

US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

• California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
º $143,150 - $221,750
• New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
º $130,600 - $221,750
• Jersey City, NJ:
º $130,600 - $221,750
• Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
º $130,600 - $181,850
• Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
º $130,600 - $210,000

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby (following 1 year of service), medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
