As a Design Intern on The Sims 4, you will become part of our team for the summer, creating incredible experiences for our players. 

You will gain experience working with a team of enthusiastic industry craftspeople from all walks of life.  You will have the opportunity to use your passion and knowledge to design and create player-first experiences that will surprise and delight millions of gamers around the world.

Do note: We are only considering students who will be enrolled in a bachelors or masters program in the summer of 2020, slated to graduate in fall of 2020 or spring of 2021.

 

What you’ll do…

• Be involved in designing, implementing and tuning features to meet the goals set for the gameplay experience.
• Iterate on designs based on internal and external playtests, game metrics, team input and community feedback.
• Participate in brainstorming, writing designs and providing feedback to other designers.
• Conduct subject matter research relating to the design objectives in an effort to ensure the authenticity of the experience.
• Be a positive influence on the entire team and, as a designer, evangelize the ultimate promise to deliver fun.
• Demonstrate a willingness to keep an open mind to coworker’s ideas, incorporating suggestions where applicable.
• Communicate and collaborate with cross functional disciplines, including artists, animators, modelers, engineers and producers.
• Contribute to a project from initial design to final production.

Ideally, you will have...

• Familiarity with one or more scripting or programming languages.
• Passion for making and playing games, especially sand-box and simulation games.
• Experience making your own games or mods.
• The ability to describe what makes a particular game system good or bad and detail how to improve it.
• The awareness to self-critique and accept outside critique. The more feedback you receive, the more you can tailor your work towards what is best for our players.
• The ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.
