Position Title: Senior Environment Artist

As a Sr. Environment Artist at Industrial Toys, you will work with a 3D generalist and level Designer to create playable spaces, large and small, using Unreal. You will collaborate with other Disciplines to ensure Visual and Technical standards are met and implemented in relation to the map creation process. You will work with the Outsource Manager to establish asset outsource needs for both static and destruction assets for the maps you own. In addition to standard World Building tasks, you will work directly with Technical Artists to create outstanding large and small environment destruction assets, how to build them, and together with the discipline leads establish the Unreal workflow for destruction asset creation across the game. You will often create hero destruction assets from concept to implementation and support other level pods to ensure destruction assets are identified and implemented across all levels of the game. When not working with other map pods to implement destruction, you will develop smaller map(s), taking the map from grey-box to final. You will report directly to the Environment Art Lead.

  • Plan and determine goals with Discipline Leads
  • Manage the time of your generalist counterpart
  • Inspire others
  • Greybox/first iteration asset creation and placement
  • Terrain creation, sculpting, and implementation in Unreal
  • Tile texture set definition and authoring
  • Plan and establish outsource needs
  • Perform experiments with Technical Artists
  • Build the process of creating final destruction assets large and small
  • Collaborate with Technical Artists to create documentation related to destruction
  • Work with other level pods to build destruction assets and implement into levels
  • Collaborate with support disciplines as it pertains to your destruction needs (Concept, VFX, Audio, and Environment art)
  • Work with the Outsource Manager to ensure process is followed, and requirements are met

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in video game development with at least 3 shipped titles, 1 being Mobile
  • Mastery creating environments using Unreal Editor
  • Portfolio demonstrating proficiency creating large-scale, photo-real environments
  • Willingness to help develop and learn new methods and software as it pertains to the project
  • Competency working with Maya, Substance, and Photoshop
  • Understand scale, proportion, and surface properties within a human scale camera
  • Collaborative spirit
  • Passion to create immersive environments and video games as a whole
  • Fun, energetic personality who is excited about creating amazing games with other passionate game developers
  • Understand how to improve level art and assets
  • Understand PBR texturing
