Position Title: Game Designer II

External Description:

MECHANICS DESIGNER

EA Vancouver is looking for an experienced Mechanics Designer to partner with our gameplay team to craft intuitive, physics-based gameplay mechanics. You'll report to a key design director on the project.

Responsibilities:

  1. You will partner with the engineering & animation gameplay teams; collaborating with our design leadership through all stages of development to implement and tune physics-based gameplay mechanics.
  2. You will communicate progress and resolution of problems to our studio and to other team members, setting clear guidelines and expectations for your peers.
  3. You will develop documentation, craft prototypes and provide final content for gameplay features and systems.
  4. You will work with UI/UX to develop the onboarding experience for new players, teaching new players relevant gameplay mechanics
  5. You will promote the creation of a variety of tools and processes that promote the main goals of maintaining a small, sustainable team size and high numbers of iterations to achieve high gameplay quality.

Requirements:

  1. You have 5 + years of experience as a gameplay designer working on AAA or mobile titles.
  2. Your understanding of current market trends and consumer feedback with the ability to craft and implement creative ideas based on analytics, data, and research will ensure that we achieve our quality goals
  3. Your deep familiarity with the fundamentals of user experience and playability testing is essential for success in this role
  4. Experience onboarding new players
