A Development Director manages a variety of disciplines including artists, designers, software engineers, QA and other production staff. Development Directors (DD's) are the keepers of the project schedule and play a vital role in successfully moving the development team from one project phase to the next while ensuring a strong focus on quality, collaboration and communication. They must partner closely with producers to ensure that they are managing the project on time, to quality, and within budget.

An ideal candidate will have all of the Development Director skills as well as live production experience (games as a service methodology)

To be a successful candidate for this role, you need to be great at:

Leadership:

• Building and evolving an effective team; identifying resourcing needs, providing challenges and developmental opportunities to ensure that all employees reach their potential
• Building and maintaining effective working relationships with the immediate team and outside of the immediate team that have an effect on the successful completion of the project
• Maintaining regular communication with the project team and coordinating dependencies with external partners
• Align with the Creative Director and production teams around prioritizing feature development to support a live build

Execution:

• Establishing and assigning task objectives from defined project goals; achieving project deliverables through managing agile teams
• Proactively assessing and mitigating risk for assigned scope and an individual, pod and team level
• Partnering with production to manage scope and quality
• Able to enforce structure / process while staying nimble and fostering creativity

Project management:

• Establishing an overall project schedule based on the individual task estimates for production
• Determining the resource requirements to meet the task(s) requirements
• Establishing a project budget, determining task dependencies, and assigning tasks to resources as appropriate
• Work with analytics and the project management team to understand latest game data and present findings to help align future feature work.

Requirements:

• Solid foundation in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall etc.)
• Knowledgeable in tools such as JIRA, Hansoft, TFS and Shotgun
• Minimum of 8 years project management or team leadership experience;
• Education requirement: University degree Bachelors or equivalent professional experience;
• Effective communication skills across multiple levels and organizations
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative team environment
• Prior experience managing a live services team
