Requisition Number: 152780

Position Title: Senior Communications Specialist

External Description:

#WeAreEA and we exist to inspire the world to play. EA values creativity, pioneering, passion, determination, learning, and teamwork. We mean things like acting with curiosity, speaking up with original ideas, and committing to each other as one team.

We’re looking for all the best kinds of people to make great experiences for our players. The best people want a job that inspires them, while giving them room to enjoy their lives. And we want to give them that. We celebrate diversity and inclusion by creating a place where you can come to work and be yourself.

And we want you to join us. We’re hiring an Internal Communications Lead.

This person leads the internal communications program for EA’s Customer Experience group in Austin, Texas. EA Customer Experience strives to make EA known for taking care of its players. We’re players taking care of players and people talking to people — whenever, wherever, and however they need us.

The Internal Comms Lead partners with teams to help them inform, inspire, and influence our people so that they know what's going on in the business and why it matters to them and our players.

You’ll develop communication plans with multiple pieces of content across a variety of channels, give advice on what and how to communicate a tricky message, and write some communications yourself. You may even consult on the messaging for business plans that will span 2 to 3 years.

You can communicate messages that your audience actually wants to read and have a knack for creativity in everything you do — from presenting a comm plan to helping someone share their key message to writing a blog post. You’re a natural communicator and facilitator — you’re comfortable leading conversations and you like teaching others what you know.

This role is part of the Communications and Employee Experience team.

We’re here to help people (players AND employees) have great experiences with EA. Everything we say and do for employees impacts players. And everyone must advocate and uphold culture – even when it’s hard, even when it’s unseen, and even when it doesn’t feel important.

So how do Internal Communications Leads make great experiences for players? They:

  • have a basic understanding of the games we make and get a feel for the player community so they know how players talk to us, and what they care about most
  • set their own goals, including stretch targets, then work to meet them through creative solutions and collaboration with others
  • identify, investigate, and recommend action plans to solve complex problems
  • build relationships with senior management and can comfortably act as a consultant on internal communications
  • seek out and work with necessary experts to address questions or manage problems
  • prioritize work effectively and aren’t afraid to shuffle their to-do list when the needs of the business change (or when they’re interrupted by people who need help right that minute)
  • identify gaps and opportunities to improve routine communications like email, internal TV screens, internal instant messaging, or all-hands meetings
  • recognize and use the most appropriate mode of communication for their audience, always being aware of its size and leadership-level
  • listen to understand and ask probing questions related to issues, problems, and opportunities
  • collaborate frequently, and proactively, both inside and outside of their team, working with key influencers to effect change.

If you’re interested in this role, you’ll need these skills or experiences:

  • 3 to 7 years’ experience in internal communications, employee relations, corporate communications, writing, or related fields
  • a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in communications or marketing-related fields are preferred
  • experience creating multi-channel communication plans or campaigns
  • the ability to collect bits and pieces of information from various sources to create compelling stories
  • the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • the ability to switch between strategic, long-term thinking and fast, daily tasks
  • interest or experience in starting new communication channels and measuring how well they work
  • experience coaching leadership roles to present to large audiences or to answer tough questions
  • proven presentation and communication skills.
