Position Summary:

EA is looking for Sr. Database Engineer who has multiple technology experience. Data and associated analytics play a huge role in the success of EA. We have diverse business needs and very large-scale data. This position will provide the technical domain and leadership required to provide scalable, actionable, reliable and timely data for our company with a focus on the Service Operations line of business. EA's private and public cloud are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently operates and upon which our innovative data services are delivered.

You’ll work with some of the brightest minds in the industry, work with some of the richest data sets leveraging cutting edge technology and get an opportunity to solve some of EA's most challenging business and engineering problems, at large scale. You will do so by partnering with stakeholders/teams and building scalable solutions that provide business critical insights and metrics, while ensuring the best uptime and responsiveness. The primary focus is to research, evaluate, plan, design, allocate, implement, support and optimize all aspects of EA's relational and distributed database systems.

Job Overview:

Perform deep dives on complex technical issues in the public and private cloud.

Interface with engineers, product managers and product analysts on large scale projects and initiatives to better understand data needs.

Work as technical lead, mentor L1/L2 team members to evaluate better ways to resolve issues while defining updates to tools and processes.

Work with internal teams and vendors to help resolve complex technical issues, influencing future design to ensure ease of serviceability.

Build cross-functional relationships and have the ability to influence policies and procedures to improve data operations.

Design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation and loading processes in production.

Build data expertise and own data quality for allocated areas of ownership.

Design, build and launch new data models in production.

Design, develop, and performance tune DDL and DML statements.

 

Job Qualifications:

10+ years’ experience administering RDBMS in an enterprise environment.

7+ years’ experience developing DDL and DML statements.

5+ years’ experience developing BI solutions.

5+ years’ experience administering distributed databases systems.

Extensive experience in database recovery, DR failover and H/A solutions.

Extensive experience with physical and logical design of data architecture, data modeling.

Experience with data optimization and performance tuning.

Experience with data replication.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining and communicating requirements, estimates, and timelines.

Good working knowledge of relational database systems including SQL Server, MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and Oracle including Azure Managed Instances and Amazon RDS.

Good working knowledge of distributed database systems including Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Snowflake and MongoDB.

Good working knowledge of public cloud DaaS offerings including AzureDB, Azure CosmosDB, AWS Aurora, and AWS DynamoDB.

Good working knowledge of systems and storage architecture and design.

Adept at establishing and maintaining very good documentation.

Preferred experience with private cloud infrastructure leveraging VMware.

Preferred experience with public cloud infrastructure leveraging Azure and AWS.

Preferred experience with Docker, Linux, and Windows.

Educational Requirements:

BA or BS in Computer Science, a related Information Technology discipline, or equivalent experience.
