External Description:
The Head of Strategic Development Initiatives plays a crucial role within the Central Development & Technology organization by leading and driving key knowledge sharing and engagement events for our EA game development communities to ensure we maximize strategic opportunities across our partner portfolio. They also act as a facilitator for organizational change programs that help our central technology organizations strengthen their partnership with EA’s game teams and improve the effectiveness of our development teams. This role will be a direct part of the Frostbite Engine Team and will report to the General Manager of Frostbite to directly support the growth in the Frostbite development community and associated developer events. The Head of Strategic Development Initiatives will also work with other teams within Central Development & Technology, including Creative Technologies, Tech Growth and Data & Analytics, to partner on the strategic opportunities across our other major technology events (WhatIf, Machina, Analyticon etc.).
- Drive planning of the annual Frostbite Dev Days event. Frostbite Dev Days is EA’s largest annual development conference to attract 500 developers from across EA.
- Collaborate with Central Development & Technology leaders to identify and evaluate potential strategic initiatives and determine feasibility and impact.
- Partner with Central Development & Technology Leaders to support defining organisational goals and facilitate organisational change initiatives to improve overall effectiveness for our teams.
- This role is open to onsite, hybrid, and remote work model types.
Responsibilities:
- Support the VP, General Manager of Frostbite in organisational development to maximise product development effectiveness within a return on investment framework.
- Improve organizational capability with practical systems for quality and creative game development, and influence development processes including internal and external resources.
- Lead thought leadership and learning agendas for our Central Development & Technology teams.
- Drive business growth plans where you define the opportunities and challenges to overcome.
- Define the opportunities and challenges to overcome and build a partnership with our game team partners and our teams.
- Drive the planning & execution of our annual Central Development & Technology conferences such as Frostbite Dev Days, WhatIf, Machina, and Analyticon.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years in business strategy, business development, product management, digital media strategy at a games/entertainment company
- 10+ years of organizational transformation experience, helping teams evolve their culture and practices to meet the growing needs.
- 10+ years of end to end experience planning and executing large-scale conferences/events.
- Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C-level executives and cross functional teams or equivalent
- Experience in strategic thinking about business, enterprise software products, and new technology platforms and architectures or equivalent
- You have experience with games and an understanding of the game development cycles, complexities of production and business’ nuances.
- In-depth experience in HD/Console, mobile products and digital development best practices with a passion and expertise towards creating amazing player experiences.
- You have a mix of development, business, technical, innovation and leadership experience from the game / entertainment industry.

BC Compensation and Benefits
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
Base Salary Ranges
• British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):
º $193,600 - $271,700 CAN Annually
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity. "
