Position Title: Associate Environment Artist

External Description:

We are DICE, the award-winning studio with locations in Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden, best known for creating the phenomenally successful Battlefield franchise.

We are now part of a set of global studios building a connected Battlefield universe, developing Battlefield's one-of-a-kind multiplayer suite, while also building a team to support our new Seattle-based studio, Ridgeline Games, who are leading the development of a single-player narrative campaign. Our people are the backbone and driving force to our creative products, and are always looking for diverse game creators to join us in Stockholm, Gothenburg, or working remotely, to help us build the best Battlefield experiences and make our studio the best in the industry.

 

We are looking for an Environment Artist to help us build realistic Environments and pushing the quality of our art. Reporting to the Lead Environment Artist, you are a subject matter expert in environmental composition and art production with a passion for working in a team to create something greater than you could by yourself.

 

Role and Responsibility of an Environment Artist:

  • Create assets matching the quality and technical target of our benchmark assets for the project.

  • Collaborate with fellow artists and designers to create lifelike environments that strike a good balance between realistic and gameplay focused.

  • Work with leads and project managers to determine budget, personal scope, defining deadlines and prioritizing backlog content to manage time and avoid diminishing returns.

  • Provide feedback and support to external partners, collaborating with them to create art for the level you’re working on.

  • Get support from senior artists, leads and project managers to meet project goals.

 

Skillset of an Environment Artist:

  • Skill in the technical and visual execution for creating high-end environments while also possessing a broad and versatile skillset.

  • Experience in environment art workflows, including asset production, level creation, photogrammetry and PBR texturing, referring to experts for specialist level knowledge.

  • Capability in backlog and managing your time, adjusting plans when the need arises.

  • Ability in managing part of a level, delegating work and setting priorities together with senior artists, leads and project managers.

  • Knowledge to help Identify and break down complex problems, determining the best approach based on dependencies and project needs.

  • Good grasp of visual and technical quality to make suggestions for improvements.
