Position Title: Associate Quality Designer

Frostbite is our technology platform for diverse game franchises, being used by thousands of developers to create experiences such as FIFA, Battlefield, Star Wars Battlefront, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Need for Speed and Plant vs. Zombies Garden Warfare. To allow our game makers to create fantastic experiences, they need high-quality tools which evolve over the years. This is where Frostbite Quality Assurance comes in.

The team

You will be a part of our team building core systems for data management and game asset processing that make our tools responsive and stable for thousands of users editing millions of assets. Some examples of what we work with are: 

  • The system that provides on-disk data to our editor

  • The pipeline for creating game-ready data from raw or source data

  • A caching system for built data to increase efficiency

  • A service for On-demand loading of large game data

The Content Framework team belongs to the Production Systems domain that creates tools, frameworks and services that EA’s content creators rely on to create and enhance EA’s games.

The role

The Frostbite Associate Quality Designer will report to the Development Director and will oversee multiple areas to ensure the software meets our stakeholders expectations, which includes the following: supporting engineers, setting and aligning on test strategies and goals, monitoring test coverage and evaluating the quality of targeted test items. You will be the organisational expert in software testing, the voice of quality for an assigned feature, area or project.

Responsibilities

  • You'll provide Release Support including triaging incoming issues, ensuring they have the necessary information to be actionable, reproducing the bugs and validating bug fixes

  • You'll work on New Feature Testing including learning about expected behaviours and KPIs, test plans, creating test scenarios

  • You'll monitor escaped defects, identify gaps in our test coverage and areas of frequent breakages, monitor our tests on the farm to identify unstable tests

  • You'll drive process improvements together with the Engineering Manager

What is Frostbite QA looking for?

 
  • 2+ years of relevant QA work experience – entertainment software; game development

  • Experience in quality assurance strategies and process management

  • Experimental mindset; achieve innovation

  • Experience with Agile development practices



BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

HOURLY PAY RANGES

• British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):
º $63,400 - $86,500 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
