We are DICE, the award-winning studio with locations in Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden, best known for creating the phenomenally successful Battlefield franchise.

We are now part of a set of global studios building a connected Battlefield universe, focused on Battlefield’s one-of-a-kind multiplayer suite, with teams also part of the development of a single-player narrative campaign.

We are looking for a Senior Level Designer to join our team working on Battlefield. Reporting to the Design Director, you will create multiplayer maps, working with artists and other developers as part of a level design pod. You will be an advocate for the player experience during the production and post-launch of your levels.

What you will do:

  • Design engaging multiplayer levels and guide their realization within a diverse team.
  • Manage the layout, flow, pacing and overall player experience from start to finish.
  • Blockout and refine the playable spaces using our internal level editor.
  • Advocate for the player experience and the second to second gameplay.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Create up-to-date documentation.
  • Participate in and guide feedback from other developers during playtests and react accordingly.
  • Work alongside the community team and analytics to gather and react to player feedback once a level is live.
  • Bug fixing and tweaking to existing maps and layouts.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a level designer.
  • At least one shipped game as a level designer. Preferably on a AAA shooter or action game.
  • Solid understanding and appreciation of all the components that help create a great and coherent player experience: art, design, narrative, VFX, sound, cinematics, lighting etc.
  • Expert knowledge of level design fundamentals and an understanding of the elements that make a Battlefield level.
  • Experience playing online multiplayer games from a player perspective
  • Structured and rational approach to the creative process.
  • Solid technical understanding.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
