About the Role:
We are seeking an Engineering Head to provide technical leadership, develop strategies aligned with our design vision, and drive continuous improvement across the organization. As a key promoter of growth in developer platforms and lifecycle management, you will mentor Technical Directors and Managers to follow engineering best practices and coach technical leaders to address risks across various projects managed from India.

Reporting to the General Manager, EA Mobile India, you will oversee and guide the technical development of our games to meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and player experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee multi-year technical strategies, roadmaps, and plans across multiple titles and initiatives within the studio, while incorporating growth-driven LiveOps and data-informed processes.
  • Collaborate with Studio Leadership, Technical Leads, and Managers of other disciplines to build strategic goals for sustainable games and services, focusing on goal-driven co-development and project ownership.
  • Use metrics, analytics, and research to anticipate future technology risks, issues, and opportunities, including the creation of an AI/ML-empowered suite of tools and platforms to support LCM and the mobile gaming ecosystem; additionally, pioneer Generative AI for art and other content.
  • Lead studio teams through technical leadership to achieve and deliver on product roadmaps, ensuring localized content-driven LiveOps of multiple titles for different countries and markets.
  • Work with technical leaders to establish operational strategies, aligning game teams with product and label visions, while incorporating new initiatives such as implementing ad monetization strategies and driving reengagement features.
  • Collaborate with internal studios and external partners to identify and deliver cross-project efforts to benefit studio and label initiatives.
  • Define, document, and communicate best practices for development within the studio, ensuring all products and services meet required standards.
  • Promote and share key studio learnings; be a major contributor and leader to the engineering community within EA Mobile.
  • Build functional, driven, and efficient engineering teams with a capacity for new game development for emerging markets, in addition to creating and delivering products and features for our players and end-users.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor senior engineers and technical leaders.
  • Ensure code quality and efficiency in end-to-end development architecture.
  • Estimate engineering effort throughout the product lifecycle and track development deliverables.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree with 20+ years of experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields from a premium institute.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large technical organizations (75+). Working with vendors to hire and manage contractors.
  • Skill in organizational design, technical career tracks, and succession planning. Experience in application development on mobile platforms, specifically Android and iOS, with proficiency in C++ or C#, iOS native development, Unity, and Unreal. Deep knowledge of AI/ML, genAI to adopt in LiveOps, building of tools and driving automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of third-party SDK integration and DevOps.
  • Empathy and ability to understand and support team needs.
  • Ability to inherit technical debt, navigate and turn around to build a strong technical environment.
  • Good understanding of business operations, data pipelines, and marketing functions.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience with game application technologies spanning client, server, live operations, and infrastructure systems.
  • Effective and efficient communicator and collaborator, capable of speaking to the team's highly technical, business, and marketing sides.
  • Must know engineering design patterns and best practices and have experience in architecting, directing, and evaluating large systems.
  • Passion for gaming and a deep understanding of player preferences, gaming ecosystem and industry trends.
