Ripple Effect, an evolution of Battlefield's DICE LA, is a Los Angeles-based game studio on a mission to build community-first experiences through continuous innovation and boundary breaking technology.

Ripple Effect Studios is developing a new Battlefield experience, and you will be a key member of the cross-location team that defines the player experience for the next generation of the Battlefield franchise. You have significant experience and interest in designing for all aspects of metagame; engagement features, progression systems, front end, and in-game economy. You will report to the Studio Design Line Director at Ripple Effect, and collaborate with and report to a Senior Director on the project at DICE in Europe. We are considering on-site and hybrid working options, and welcome full-time remote candidates who are within the US or Canada to apply.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist directors with driving the long-term vision for Meta on Battlefield, encompassing Progression, Social, Front End, and Economy features, with the intent of addressing new opportunities and growing the audience
  • Collaborate across studios to ensure that the meta systems meet the needs of all aspects of the game, and are aligned to create a consistent, compelling, and high-quality gameplay experience for players
  • Align and collaborate with other disciplines (engineering, UX, UI) to ensure that the design and implementation is within scope and to quality
  • Be the design owner of more complex features, while giving growth opportunities to the engagement designers you lead
  • Support and grow your team through mentorship, training, and writing documentation
  • Design and implement rewards, assignments and progression using the Frostbite engine and other EA tools
  • Participate constructively and respectfully in the critique of your work, and the work of others
  • Look for opportunities to learn new skills to benefit your growth, your team, and the studio

 

Qualifications:

  • Design leadership role on at least one shipped game, or live service experience
  • At least one shipped multiplayer title as a designer working on Progression, Economy or Social
  • Understanding of current trends in gaming, and in particular engagement mechanics in the shooter genre
  • Comfortable with Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and analytics
  • Experience with the player, playstyle and personas
  • Enjoy creative problem-solving, and value respectful feedback processes
  • Broad taste in games

 

Valuable Additional Skills:

  • Worked with game engines and game engine editors
  • Experience in economics and conversion
  • Solid understanding of AAA development for consoles in the action or FPS genre

US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

º $131,600 - $213,300
• New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
º $131,600 - $213,300
• Jersey City, NJ:
º $154,800 - $213,300
• Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
º $131,600 - $179,600
• Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
º $131,600 - $195,200

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby (following 1 year of service), medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
