The Challenge ahead 

The accounting’s mission is to create shareholder value through integrity, leadership and business partnership.  Our primary responsibility is to prepare and report the worldwide consolidated financial statements to senior management and to shareholders through press releases and earnings calls.  Additional responsibilities include accounting consultation to internal partners, assisting with acquisitions, system improvements and other special projects. 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join the European Controllership Team. This will offer you the chance to take ownership of the European Close, Consolidation and reporting.  

The role is preferably to be based in Guildford but possibly in the other hub in Lyon and you will be reporting into the EU Technical Accounting and Reporting Manager based in Guildford, UK.  

You will promote excellence throughout EA and through the following important responsibilities: 

  • EU close, consolidation and reporting 
  • You will oversee and coordinate all aspects of the close calendar 
  • You will be the main Point of Contact for the European teams for monitoring the progress of the close and escalating issues   
  • You will participate to the monthly Global Commercial Organization P&L reporting  
  • You will manage the European consolidated Balance Sheet Reporting  
  • You will present the key aspects of the balance sheet to the corporate Controllership team 
  • You will prepare some disclosure elements for the purpose of preparing the 10-K notes and schedule 
  • You will identify process improvements with emphasis on streamlining, simplifying and standardizing the close and its reporting 
     
  • Hedge accounting 
  • You will facilitate the compilation of EA Swiss’ (international headquarter for the Rest of the World territory and located in Switzerland) balance sheet foreign exchange hedging forecasts to Treasury and perform analytics to bridge forecasts to actuals. 
  • You will prepare and/or review journal entries in relation to foreign exchange and hedge 

      

  • Project management and Subject Matters Expert 
  • You will participate on projects related to systems upgrades, process alignment, capital transactions or integration of companies. 
  • You will participate as Subject Matters Expert of certain areas of expertise (financial reporting, financial close …) 
  • You will spend a portion of time on projects (e.g., globally aligning EA’s accounting practices, improving documentation, building more robust analytical reporting) 
  • You will prepare memos/whitepapers on accounting issues as required 

 

  • Other temporary responsibilities 
  • You will be the back-up of certain activities from peers or assist them as required 

Technical skills and experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree with +5 years of experience within an accounting 4+ years relevant financial accounting experience 
  • Qualified or Part Qualified CIMA / ACCA / equivalent preferable 
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with Global teams (including offshore teams) 
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP accounting and reporting 
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and PowerBI 
  • Experience with Oracle R12 and Hyperion Financial Management a plus 
  • Fluency in English 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills that enables clear and concise communication to all levels of management 
  • Appreciation for data integrity, process definition and organisational alignment 
  • Highly motivated, self-starter 
  • Flexibility to handle multiple and sometimes competing priorities and to connect with US based partners.
