Within EA, the Game Server Hosting organization builds the critical, cloud-native game server infrastructure and studio-facing tooling that underpins EA’s current generation of multiplayer games and fuels innovation of the next wave. We are looking for a highly motivated Game Engine/C++ Software Engineer to deliver reusable components and connectors between game servers, their engines, and our game server hosting ecosystem.  Your efforts will directly contribute to helping ship EA’s next amazing multiplayer games.

Responsibilities:

  • You will work on reusable modules and integrations spanning multiple game engines.
  • You will manage the game server process lifecycle and ensure successful startup, healthy runtime, and clean exit.
  • You will ensure game server telemetry (logs, metrics) are collected and made available to game teams.
  • You will provide mechanisms for game teams to send commands and debug running game server instances.
  • You will work closely with game studio partners to facilitate integration of our components and products into their game code and seek repeatable solutions.
  • You will collaborate with product and program management to ensure clarity and understanding of features and priorities.
  • You will develop creative solutions that address customer requests, deliver new product features, and solve product defects.
  • You will contribute to the successful launch of online games from some of the industry's top franchises.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years hands-on commercial software development experience
  • Experience working in C++ codebases
  • Exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable with large modular codebases
  • Ability to utilize a wide range of debugging tools (logging, tracing, stepwise-debugging etc.)
  • Education: Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Bonus Experience Points:

  • Experience working with a commercial-grade game engine (Unreal Engine, Unity, Frostbite etc.)
  • Comfortable utilizing Linux debugging tools (GDB, Valgrind etc.)
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with the Go and C# programming languages
