Position Title: Software Engineer I

The Challenge Ahead:

As a Software Test Engineer on the Frostbite Release team, you will report to the engineering manager and help build a scalable and collaborative development environment while delivering the work of hundreds of engineers to their customers. You will be part of a team building the culture, process, and tooling for delivering Frostbite in the highest quality. We are looking for a generalist who can quickly familiarize themselves quickly with new technologies and works well in collaborative team-oriented environments.

What does the Frostbite team do?

We develop the Frostbite engine - EA's state-of-the-art multi-platform game development engine. Frostbite has powered games such as FIFA, Madden NFL, Battlefield, Need For Speed, Dragon Age: Inquisition, PGA Tour and Star Wars Battlefront. Frostbite uses its proprietary technical advantages to empower game creators to shape games and push the boundaries of what they can achieve. We are located across North America (Vancouver, Edmonton, Orlando, Montreal), Europe (Guildford, Stockholm, Bucharest) and Australia (Melbourne).

Responsibilities:

    • Ensure jobs on the Continuous Integration farm remains green
    • Monitor the CI farm across multiple development streams
    • Identify, diagnose, and fix CI test failures
    • Communicate build and game stability issues with the responsible domains
    • Work with the CI automation team to resolve infrastructure issues
    • Help enforce policies and improve the processes and environment to help to release Frostbite efficiently and in the highest quality
  • Work with stakeholders to improve general stability across multiple development streams
  • Adapt and converge on solutions for a myriad of problems. You could be collaborating with the CI automation team to address a hardware related issue, and then moving on to debugging a crash in a game level

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience
  • 2+ years of development or applied coding experience
  • Extensive experience in debugging

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Production experience with game engines
  • Experience with Jenkins or other build management tools
  • Experience with continuous integration best practices
  • Perforce and other SCMs
