Role Overview

 

We are looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer to build and lead the backend development efforts for our Design Home game. In this position, you will be exposed to using PHP at scale and to build distributed systems in a very fast paced environment. You will also lead key discussions around server architecture and design.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, architect, implement and document game features and services
  • Mentor your team members
  • Optimize, refactor and fine tune code for performance and maintainability
  • Lead and coordinate development efforts with your team and cross functional teams
  • Become the key knowledge holder of server components

 

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of backend systems development experience, preferably in game development
  • Experience leading backend development teams
  • Expertise with PHP framework Laravel/Lumen
  • Experience in building microservice oriented architecture at scale
  • Experience with NoSQL databases
  • Experience with AWS services 
  • Solid knowledge of OOP, design patterns, algorithms, and data structures
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills
  • Passionate about building games that will be played by millions around the world
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or Game Development or equivalent experience

 

Preferred:

  • HTML, CSS, and Javascript experience
  • Linux shell scripting expertise
  • Experience with service containers such as Docker
  • Experience with Git based source control such as Gitlab, Github
  • Experience with Couchbase and Redis
  • Experience building games and related services/tools
