What does a Developer Relations Engineer (External) do on the Frostbite team?

Reporting to a Sr. Engineering Manager in the Frostbite Partner Experience team, your main responsibility is to be the primary engineering liaison between one or more External Partners and the Frostbite engineering team with a goal of ensuring success in collaborative development projects for the Frostbite engine. The goal of this collaborative development is to maximize the potential of the Frostbite engine on the partner's platforms.

Responsibilities

  • You will work with the EA External Technology group as a liaison between Frostbite and our external partners to resolve any logistical issues before engagement with external partners.
  • You will ensure a smooth delivery of game engine resources and source code to our external partners and resolve issues.
  • You will update or refactor external partner code to meet Frostbite coding standards
  • You will provide expertise and guidance on how to develop in the Frostbite Engine
  • You will collaborate with other Frostbite teams in developing and customizing the engine to better meet the needs of our external partners

To succeed in this role, we believe that you will need

  • 6+ years of professional experience with C++ or equivalent work experience
  • Experience debugging large-scale systems
  • Experience with efficient code and optimization
  • Experience working with different teams or customers in a collaborative approach

It would also be nice if you have

  • Experience building a professional network with track record around successful partnerships
  • Experience working with large-scale game engines (like Unreal, Unity, or Frostbite) or gaming hardware platforms
  • Experience with C# or Python
  • Experience leading software development projects or mentoring other software engineers
