Position Title: Managing Editor, EA Newsroom

Summary of Function:

The managing editor of EA Newsroom reports to the VP, Brand EA. In this role, the director will manage the EA Roadmap through the constantly shifting landscape of industry moments, world events, social justice moments and corresponding news cycles. This person will be highly skilled in both strategy and operations. They will have experience coordinating outcomes across brand, comms and marketing and have a strong point of view on all three skills. They will be a strong collaborator and take a show-runner-like approach to getting things done. They will have helped brands navigate both moments of brand building and also crisis. 

Job role description:

  • Define and lead editorial strategy and execution for company news, employee programs, events and stories delivered via brand storytelling in the brand tone of voice
  • Build and maintain a company-wide calendar of events & milestone moments integrated with editorial calendar –(AKA – leave no stone unturned so that we always have insight into what is touching and hitting employees across the company and understand the employee experience. This means even integrating Workplace services, PE, Legal, Finance, etc. – anything that is being sent out even operationally that needs to be on brand and on message. 
  • Align with comprehensive global marketing plans to effectively map planned and emergent internal communications (employee, executive), external communications (PR, social), and marketing initiatives (brand, performance and solution, partner) – always meeting our audiences where they are at with content they can relate to.
  • Runs the EA Brand Newsroom weekly stand up to manage shifts to the EA Brand Roadmap in real-time
  • Oversee management of editorial calendar of cross-functional, enterprise-level EA brand & comms programming
  • Provide consultative support/editing to functional content owners to produce & maintain dynamic, socially inspiring, actionable content and training
  • Produce, execute and deliver monthly & quarterly dashboards highlighting key performance of content, working closely with channel owners and EA.com
  • Create the most value from strategic editorial assets produced by business groups, communications team writers, podcast team, and marketing designers, planning effective timing and placement of assets across channels.
  • Align, own content strategy for external web site and other key EA priority channels (tbc)
  • Establish editorial priorities and help the team to continuously assess content and channels, leveraging metrics and analytics to demonstrate what success looks like and providing ongoing recommendations.
  • Recognize editorial opportunities and synergies informed by EA’s culture and business priorities.
  • Explore new channels and innovative approaches to reach identified key audiences
  • During crisis management/fallout, leads BCI leadership team and functional content creators through all risks, news, priorities and assignments.

  • Knowledge of editorial and ethical standards for the research and development of journalistic articles and/or presentations
  • Have a passion for people and collaboration
  • Someone who has a pulse of the world events and can ensure that we’re always leading and communicating with empathy – right place, right time, and not tone deaf to the world events. 
  • Ideally someone with DEI experience and editorial direction
  • Always advocate for the employee experience 
  • Think 360 degrees, multi-channel, multi-audience (what hits in one channel has ripple effect to others across studios, etc.) 
  • Strong content performance and insights driven. 

 

Essential Criteria:

  • 8+ years experience in brand/ comms/ PR/ Journalism 
  • Accomplished writer and editor across range of topics and mediums
  • Team player; comfortable collaborating closely with many different groups around the world
  • High degree of initiative and independent judgment
  • Versatile skillset; able to juggle a variety of projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Authentic, servant leadership as a people manager
  • Experience managing brands through periods of rapid change
  • Brand or newsroom experience/ has been in a brand editorial role or led a newsroom before
  • Marketing experience managing across multiple channels
