We are looking for a Modes Engineer to play a key role in shipping a high-quality title. Game Modes engineers maintain a broad view of the game and engine systems and look for ways to improve performance, utility, and capabilities to our players and workflow enhancements to our development team, reporting to the Development Manager of the team you will be contributing to

We are looking for passionate engineers who enjoy prototyping and planning, working with other engineers, and building primary systems (often using other systems), workflows, and capabilities that allow us to work smarter and bring substantial improvements to our game.

Responsibilities:

  • Debug, fix and improve existing code
  • Help to provide well-tested and high-quality new features that meet requirements
  • You will implement core EA technologies in an architecturally sound way to help collaborative development efforts
  • Provide well-tested and high-quality technical implementations that meet design requirements
  • You will look for ways to increase team efficiency through tooling or workflow enhancements

Requirements:

  • Good Level of C++, basic understanding of containers, algorithms and object-oriented programming
  • Some experience or related studies writing technical documentation, and good understanding of best practices, and architectural considerations
  • Some experience or related studies navigating and understanding a client/server codebase, Peer-to-Peer and multi-threaded architectures
  • Some experience with Unreal, Unity or any other game engine
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts: network topologies, rpc, dedicated server…
  • Modern C++14/17, SQL and Python are a plus

Pluses

  • Experience of real-time game networking
  • Experience working with mobile applications
  • Good knowledge of the debugging tools
  • Familiarity with the game development industry and console development
  • Experience using project tools (e.g. JIRA)
