Production Engineers are force multipliers who use their technical expertise and passion for learning, as well their love of supporting others to help empower our creators to make some of the best games in the world.   As a Production Engineer, you will be a strong self starter who will unblock and provide desk-side support to developers, partner closely with stakeholders to identify and test workflow improvements, while often operating with ambiguity.  You will use this experience to set standards and best practices as well as helping ensure that we are looking for the root causes of issues, and partnering closesly with our Production team to identify painful systems and key opportunities to solve issues.   You will often work autonomously as you navigate a multitude of evolving workflows for the teams you support.  Production Engineers is a new discipline in the games industry and Respawn is excited to be building out their Production Engineering Team, by joining our team you'll help charter a new space and be one of the first hires on a new initiative within Respawn.

If you're a great problem solver who likes untangling sticky situations and finding root causes and fixing them, and you get deep satisfaction from empowering others and helping them learn and create great content, then our Production Engineering team will be great for you.

Responsibilities

  • Solve unexpected and difficult problems in unfamiliar areas
  • Support small to medium sized teams in day-to-day work
  • Test and verify usability of in-development tools and workflows
  • Identify and drive process improvements and root cause analysis where applicable
  • Utilize a data driven mindset when looking at problems, and understand return on investment of content creator time
  • Write and maintain scripts, tools and documentation as needed

Required Skills

  • A strong critical eye for detail and the ability to communicate effectively with the team to resolve issues
  • Service-oriented mentality

  • Quick learner in unfamiliar areas

  • Demonstrated ability to get things done in ambiguity

  • High levels of autonomy and proactivity

  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical developers

  • Demonstrable scripting or object-oriented programming experience

  • A strong critical eye for detail and the ability to communicate effectively with the team to resolve issues
  • Communication with both large groups and individuals, with excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Experience working on a AAA game
  • Games QA experience
  • Experience with source control software, especially Perforce
  • Technical Art or Computer Science education or applicable work experience
  • Desk-side technical support experience
  • Familiarity with Digital Content Creation applications (3DS Max, Maya, Photoshop, Wwise)
  • Familiarity with game development suites (Unity, Unreal)
