Position Title: Sr Game Designer

As a Gameplay Input Designer with experience mapping complex game controls to various controller/input devices, you will report to the Gameplay Lead and partner with the gameplay team to map out, implement, and fine tune multiple control schemes that apply the relevant ergonomic principles of accessibility and usability, while allowing for mastery over time. We ask that you have a solid grasp of the cognitive load placed on players.

Responsibilities

  • You will partner with the gameplay team, and collaborate with design leadership through all stages of development to ensure ideal controller mappings for each platform, input method, and player motivation.
  • You will map game controls that are easy to use, taking into account human physical and cognitive limitations.
  • You will develop documentation, map and tune various controller styles, and deliver final content for all input mappings.
  • You will work with UI/UX to develop the onboarding experience, teaching new players how to interact with the game via their specific controller type.
  • You will work with UI/UX to develop accessibility and preferential input options, such as assisted input remapping and one handed control schemes.
  • You will design and tune haptic and rumble feedback moments for various input devices.
  • You will partner with a data analytics and user research team to validate the effectiveness of the implemented control schemes.

Qualifications
Please note that you do not need to qualify for all requirements to be considered. We encourage you to apply if you can meet most of the requirements and are comfortable opening a dialog to be considered.

  • 5 + years of experience as a game designer working on AAA and/or mobile titles.
  • Deep familiarity with the fundamentals of user experience and playability testing.
  • Experience and understanding of onboarding new players/users.
  • Experience using in-engine scripting tools to author and modify in-game logic.
  • Passion for promoting an inclusive and diverse, 'team-first' culture based on fun.
