Position Title: Associate Technical Director

External Description:

As an Associate Technical Director (ATD) for Apex Legends Mobile, you will work with internal EA teams, vendors, and our external development partner to bring Apex Legends to market on mobile devices.

• Respawn looks for experience with all aspects of game technology systems and pipelines.
• You can partner with all kinds of personnel at varying levels.
• You have a degree in Computer Science / Engineering (or equivalent experience) and have 7+ years of software development experience.
• You have programming experience in debugging and integrating complex systems.
• You have experience in several development using automated testing, unit testing, and Configuration Management processes.
• You will pick up new technologies and concepts quickly.

Responsibilities:

• Accountable technical leader that owns one or more areas of technology across the Mobile game for development and live service.
• Be an authority on their areas of technology ownership.
• Partner with external developers to set milestones and review progress, and use soft skills (with an emphasis on partnership) to bring improvements and changes to primary technologies, yielding improvements to main gameplay Measurements.
• Propose core game quality attributes relating to gameplay and performance features for the product.
• Work with internal EA teams and external partners Product Management to gather the requirements to form the core foundation for the game's technologies in the areas of / ownership.
• Up to 50% time hands-on in Coding and Testing and Deployment.

Experience:

• Bilingual: fluent in English and Mandarin.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• At least 7+ years of software development experience
• Experience in many programming languages (e.g. C++, Python, Lua, and C#).
• Experience building mobile applications in a fast pace.
• Understanding of memory management, multiple processor use, and runtime optimization.
• Experience with software development tools such as source control systems, automated build systems, compilers, software validation systems, test harnesses, continuous integration and deployment.
• Previous startup-like experience could be helpful.

Others:

• Development experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Azure.
• Experience in product and project management.
• Knowledge of UE4.
• Experience in a leadership role / position.
• Shipped at least one mobile game with an online and live service component and high DAU.
