Position Title: Game Designer II

Motive is looking for a Gameplay Designer focused on combat and AI to join our team on the early stages of a new AAA project. You will join a small team of gameplay designers who report to the Lead Gameplay Designer.

Responsibilities :

  • Work with design leadership and other designers to ensure all parts of the combat experience support one another and fulfill the game's creative vision
  • Create AI characters and combat systems that realize the combat vision
  • Work with animation, art, audio, design, programming, and visual effects to develop your features to a high level of quality
  • Create new features and content using our in-house tools
  • Research and write design documents
  • Communicate the game's design to the team
  • Incorporate ideas and feedback from across the team and from testing to improve your features
  • Give concise and helpful feedback to help improve all aspects of the game
  • Use prototyping to learn and prove the design
  • Contribute to the development of tools and design processes to improve how we work

Qualifications :

  • 3+ years of design experience developing video games
  • Design credits on at least one title where you were responsible for major parts of the design of enemy AI, combat systems, or bosses
  • Experience working hands-on with a game engine to implement your designs
  • Knowledge of recent action games and trends in the market and the ability to apply insights from them
  • A relentless focus on the player experience
