We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Technical Art Director to join our Star Wars FPS team. Reporting to the Game Director, the Technical Art Director will oversee the efforts of the Tech Art and Tech Animation department. You will lead by example and act as a gateway between Code, Animation, and Art. What you'll do...

  • You will guide Tech Art and Tech Animation to build a holistic solution for supporting Art and Animation.
  • Work with the Game Director, Art, Animation, and Code leadership ensuring tools and supporting features meet the vision for production
  • You will preserve, improve, and document Art tools
  • Work with engineers to get features running and test before the main production.
  • Work with engineers, artists, and designers to pinpoint game performance and memory usage issues.
  • You will organize and pioneer ongoing department research into new software
  • Advocate for the department's goals and desires while removing roadblocks
  • You will develop, motivate, and mentor team members while creating opportunities for challenge and growth.

You will have...

  • Experience on a AAA game team and at least one AAA shipped title
  • In-depth expertise scripting on relevant 3D and 2D software packages (such as Maya, Photoshop, and Zbrush.)
  • Understanding of relevant tools.
  • Experience with game engines and art integration and corresponding technical restraints.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine and Blueprint is a major plus.
  • Experience with PBR materials
  • Familiarity with rendering pipelines
  • Familiarity with Animation pipelines
  • You will talk about R&D and know how to evaluate new software for use in development.
  • Experience with pipelines and how to improve them.
