Role Overview

As a UI Tech Artist, you will collaborate with an experienced team of UX Designer(s), UI Visual Designer(s), and UI Tech Designers to create and implement UI animations using UMG in the Unreal Engine based on existing UI.

This work will require a combination of art and design sensibilities, technical knowledge related to the game dev environment, and a high degree of communication and collaboration. As a team member, you will help your fellow team members continue to meet and raise the quality bar at the studio.

Skills and Experience:

  • Design and implement memory-efficient animations into the Unreal game engine based on some existing designs using the UMG / Blueprint Visual Scripting system in the Unreal Engine.
  • Ensure UI assets are optimal as possible by balancing the art needs with tech restraints.
  • Work with various teams to ensure UI assets and features are functioning correctly in the client.
  • Collaborate with other artists in multiple sub-disciplines as needed
  • Experience working and collaborating with developers in various disciplines.
  • Documentation of systems and art pipeline.
  • Creating samples, examples, and prototypes of your work
  • You're user-focused, passionate, scrappy, solutions-focused, and innovative.
  • 3D experience is a plus

Where do we need you?

  • Currently, we have very few and limited animations in the game. We're hoping that you can help us bring animations to all UI elements large and small. This includes but is not limited to developing press animations, shape animations, glow animations for buttons, page navigation, and animations for rank-up sequences.
  • Additionally, we have some initial animation work done by our outsource vendor Sprung. However, it was not created in a way that can be achieved within the technical constraints of UE4 UMGs. These can be used as inspiration and a starting for developing our animation design system.
  • We are open to new concepts and ideas that work within our technological constraints and add a much-needed polish and liveliness to our game.
