Join us for the opportunity to create groundbreaking games with some of the best developer talent in the industry. As a Team Lead on our Online Services Engineering team you’ll help maintain code and infrastructure that supports all the major online services for Apex Legends and future titles. Mentor the engineering team around best practices in designing and coding services. Leverage existing and new technologies in the industry to best solve challenging technical problems while dealing with millions of concurrent players! You will report to the Technical Director of Online Technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Build, improve, and maintain Apex Legend’s online infrastructure
  • Work with designers and engineers to gather requirements and build services, while being a technical feature owner
  • Help establish and maintain technical best practices
  • Proactively identify issues and fix bugs
  • Be a technical leader for Apex Legends and help drive process improvements and set high-quality standards
  • Help grow and mentor a team of engineers of varying skill levels

Requirements

  • Passion for making and playing games
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • 8+ years of programming experience in a variety of languages
  • 5+ years of experience building online services using industry standards
  • 5+ years of experience working with cloud services such as AWS
  • 3+ years of experience with Linux in an operational capacity
  • Understanding of different database solutions and how best to leverage them
  • Experience building scalable and maintainable systems
  • Experience leading a team of developers to value craftsmanship, effectiveness, productivity and happiness in their day to day work
  • Able to work well in a remote environment with remote team members

Nice to have

  • PHP, Lua, Go, and / or Kotlin exposure
  • Prior experience working with language frameworks as it pertains to building online services (e.g. Spring)
  • Understanding of the CNCF landscape
