The role

The Technical Artist will be the bridge between Artists and Engineers. Individuals in this role demonstrate a sense of creativity and respect for aesthetics. You can be from an Art, Design, Mathematics, Engineering or Science background; however you must demonstrate a comfort level in working with both art and science. Working with Programming/Technical staff the Technical Artist ensures that CG assets are easily integrated into the game engine without sacrificing artistic integrity. You will report to the Development Director of the game area/project.

Responsibilities:

  • Debug content assets, pipeline, skeletons, weighting, models, and shaders
  • Integrate art assets where necessary
  • Write basic to intermediate level scripts and expressions within a CG package (i.e. Python, C#, Mel) to improve the efficiency of several art/pipeline workflow tasks
  • Build stability management
  • Assist art teams with technical guidance

Requirements:

  • 3+ years games production experience
  • Worked in a production team in several stages of modeling, texturing and lighting at very proficient level
  • Experienced in writing Python scripts, additional scripting language experience
  • Basic to intermediate level of experience working with the C# programming language
  • Experience using Game Engine Editors is considered a nice to have
  • C++ Knowledge is not required, but considered a nice to have
  • Understanding:
  • Game engine workflows, and technologies
  • Compression, computer/game hardware, real-time rendering, dynamic simulation systems, image manipulation tools, command line systems, inverse and forward kinematics, shader systems, lighting, 1 or more 3D authoring packages
  • Ability to visually communicate ideas effectively through use of non-computer mediums
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical parties
  • Experience with good asset management practice
