Position Title: Software Engineer III

External Description:

The Development and Release Engineering (DRE) team are EA's continuous integration and build experts. We're a team of over 100, located in EA studios across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. We pride ourselves on providing superior automation services to our internal customers - EA's game, product, and content teams.

The DRE Infrastructure Engineering team is a globally distributed team, responsible for automating the infrastructure used to build EA games and making sense of the data that those workflows create. As a Software Engineer on our team, you'll build new services and improve our infrastructure lifecycle processes for the core services that build EA games. You'll report to a Sr. Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

 

  • You'll work with engineering leads across DRE to automate, simplify and abstract the build/test automation stack
  • You will contribute to technical architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions within our team
  • You enjoy mentoring junior engineers in sustainable service-oriented architecture and design principles
  • You'll own team features or systems and define their long-term health while also improving the health of surrounding systems.
  • You'll work with our internal customers to design, prototype and implement new automated workflows
  • You're comfortable explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical people

 

Qualifications

 

  • You've been automating complex on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure environments for 5+ years using tools like Terraform, Packer, Chef and Ansible
  • Writing understandable, testable code in a scripting language like Python, Go, PowerShell, JavaScript or Ruby is second nature to you
  • Experience using and managing CI/CD workflows and tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, ECS, GKE)
  • You are passionate about observability and predictive analysis and know your way around tools like Elasticsearch, Grafana and Prometheus
  • Experience in database (MSSQL, Mongo, data lake, etc.) and data analysis technologies (SQL, python, scala, R) is a nice bonus
  • You're at home working collaboratively with a distributed team using issue management tools like Jira and Gitlab
