Position Title: Sr Software Engineer I

External Description:

Production Infrastructure & Engineering (PI&E) organization provides the essential platforms and infrastructure hosting solutions that power EA's live services. Our charter is to make EA's games and services available to all players anytime and anywhere. To do this, we focus on the high availability of infrastructure, primary services, and studio services. We aim to help developers to experiment and build new games quickly with infrastructure services on-demand and workflows that promote rapid development in the cloud. In all of this, we focus on being there for players where and when they want to play.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Infrastructure Optimization, you will work with the engineering leadership and business leaders on capacity management platforms. As the lead SWE for the Cloud & Infrastructure Optimization team under the Production Infrastructure & Engineering team at EA, you will set the technical direction for solving many technically interesting projects optimizing our infrastructure systems and cloud services. You will work across teams including SRE, data engineers, infrastructure planning team, and product manager.

Responsibilities:

  • You will oversee part of products that require design, architecture, and coding.
  • You are expected to inspire and train team members.
  • You will work with peers across teams to develop technical stacks.
  • You will lead a team to scale distributed systems, make architectural trade-offs.
  • You are expected to be hands-on in software development and code review.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years experience as a software engineer.
  • 5+ years experience in Python, Go, or Java.
  • 3+ years of cloud infrastructure experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Experience writing unit, integration, and acceptance tests.
  • Fluency in developing both object-oriented and functional code, on server and client.
  • Experience partnering with product and business organizations to work towards common goals.

Bonus:

  • 3+ years as a tech lead, or a similar combination with experience with backend infrastructure in the cloud.
  • 3+ years experience with open-source databases (MySQL, Postgres, Redis, or others).
  • 2+ years of experience with Kubernetes.
  • Experience building, scaling, and operating complex distributed systems.
