Position Title: Associate Quality Designer

External Description:

The Challenge Ahead:

Your role on this evergreen title is versatile with many areas of focus and responsibility. A Quality Designer is a catalyst ensuring that Live QV understands the design and that features are tested accurately to ensure the quality of the game lives up to our players' expectations.

 

They are champions of best practices and new ideas, playing a key role in driving our craft forward. They test, document, use data and evolve procedures ensuring an accurate execution and reporting of all testing activities.

 

The candidate will require a strong quality mindset and effective stakeholder management to be successful. As a Quality Designer I, you will report to the Development Manager.

 

SONAR’S Mission:

  • Safeguarding the Players' end-to-end experience.
  • Driving retail verification of content/releases in Live.
  • Actively use Player data, studio partnerships, and tools to investigate and assess player-facing issues.
  • Utilizing tools across multiple sources to understand Player sentiment and pinpoint key issues in the wild. 
  • Identification, escalation, and elimination of central issues that benefit multiple stakeholders.
  • Reducing manual test hours by utilizing automation, supported by data and tools, to guide risk-based testing efforts.

Development Technology and Solutions (DTS) powers EA Studios to create even greater player experiences. We help shape the future from the way games are created, to how they are played and viewed.

 

We are a global team and the largest studio within EA! DTS proudly consists of the following teams: Quality, Verification & Standards, Studios Technology Group, Studios Data & Insights, DTS Operations, and SEED.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Determine and maintain the Live test strategies for owned projects, ensuring accurate reporting of status and risk.
  • Work with remote teams to ensure high-quality service delivery for your area(s) of ownership.
  • You will lead the qualitative feedback process from a Live QV perspective, gathering feedback from the team and providing partners with applicable analysis of the results. 
  • You will improve the qualitative feedback across the team, advocating for best practices.
  • Identify high-value automation and telemetry requirements for Live support (Production environment).
  • Attend initial and regular stakeholder meetings to discuss strategy, challenges, and results.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • A passion for quality.
  • Previous games or software development QA experience (3+ years).
  • Knowledge of gaming consoles and their systems.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Leadership skills to help mentor a team of Associate Quality Designers and Quality Analysts.
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills to handle collaboration between different teams.
  • Experience with applications such as JIRA, Confluence, TestRail.

Experience with test automation, telemetry, or data analysis (desirable).
