Position Title: Director, Digital Strategy

External Description:

EA’s Marcom Strategy is the team responsible for defining the strategies that underpin our creative campaigns and consumer-facing brand behaviors. This global group of strategists, creatives, technologists, and producers define the steel threads that guide campaigns and consumer-facing content across our franchises. This involves strategic engagement from inception to execution; including franchise & brand identity, strategic narratives, content planning, creative platforms and creative direction for our assets and activations. We use both left brain and right brain thinking to boldly chase the next insight that will progress marketing in our industry and beyond.

As a Director of Marketing & Communications Strategy, you will report to our Sr Director of Marcom Strategy, and partner closely with Marcom Creative, Brand, Studio, and other cross-functional teams, across a portfolio of exciting games at Respawn, including Apex Legends.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Brand to help bring franchise strategy to life across communications, content, and channels.
  • Articulate and plan content ecosystems, consumer journeys, and connections plans across partnerships, transmedia entertainment, game launches and ongoing game support.
  • Interpret quant and qual insights from a variety of sources – Marcom Intelligence, Analytics, Consumer Insights, layering in cultural context and real-world trends to form a bridge between our product / brand experience and the reality of the world our players are in.
  • Champion the strategies and work of the team to internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with our creative and channel teams to develop creative and content platforms for our games, along with audience personas, tone and narrative for our campaigns.
  • Beyond the ideation of the creative strategy, partner with the Brand Marketing and cross-functional teams to ensure quality and integrated execution of the strategy
  • Partner with our Brand Management and Studio/Game Development teams to ensure the marketing campaigns support the brand strategy and the product goals.
  • Work with Brand Marketing to determine the KPIs that measure the performance of content, campaign activities, and franchise health.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years in a strategy or planning role within a creative agency or entertainment brand, entertainment franchise experience preferred.
  • Able to work with teams primarily in Pacific time zone. Some regular travel may be needed for key team collaboration moments.
  • A leader: Inspiring and influential voice with experience selling in creative experiences to different audiences
  • A storyteller: an understanding of cohesive narrative across everything from a presentation to a pithy end-line to a piece of content
  • A creator: you drive strategy that inspires breakthrough activations and content across a variety of mediums
  • You understand the role algorithms play, the nuances of consumer behavior in open/closed networks, and can visualize the consumer journey across integrated marketing channels
  • Insights: an ability to interpret quant and qual data and distill the insights that best unlock creative marketing platforms.
  • You have a love for the rich mythology and culture around entertainment storytelling.
