Position Title: Environment Artist 2

EA Create is a collective of content production teams partnering with EA Studios game teams to bring outstanding visuals, audio, and technology to life. As a member of the Create Art team, and reporting to the World's team lead artist, you will partner with the Apex Legends Leads and Art Directors to create highly detailed, engaging, gameplay-friendly play spaces.

With an interest in creating content for level-based games, we are looking for artists with expertise in world/level creation, hard surface assets, material creation, and look development.

Responsibilities:

Creating high-quality benchmark content, from individual assets to entire levels

Prototyping visuals and R+D projects, to problem solve and create best practices

Working with Art Directors, Art Leads, and Technical Leads, and delivering on their vision and requirements.

Actively create and guide outstanding Worlds content

Provide mentorship and guidance to more junior artists

Participate in group reviews

Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years experience with environment art or hard surface modelling

You are technically minded and adaptable to different tools and game engines

You have expert knowledge of Maya, Max, Modo, or similar 3D modeling software

Proficiency with ZBrush is desirable (for sculpting assets)

You have an exceptional ability to create both organic and man-made/hard surface assets

You are experienced with different art styles, including photorealistic and stylized

You are able to convey a sense of ‘story’ in a scene or game asset – considering age, weathering, and context

You have a strong sense of scene composition with a superior eye for lighting, color, and detail

You have an excellent understanding of physical materials and how to replicate them in CG

You can paint believable surfaces, using industry-standard software (Substance Painter)

You understand the entire game art production process, from concept through to final

Knowledge of terrain creation (both modeled and procedurally generated) is an advantage

You have a willingness and ability to adapt to new processes and pipelines

You have a proactive approach with a high degree of self-motivation and initiative
