External Description:

The EA Create Capture team is made up of industry leading experts responsible for motion and performance capture, 3D body and facial scanning, data processing and virtual cinematography tools.

EAs Vancouver-based Motion Capture Studio serves the motion capture needs for all of EAs game development teams world-wide. In our studio we capture a wide spectrum of data types – 3D scanning, virtual cinematography, performance capture and motion capture to name a few. As a member of the team you will directly support multiple game development teams with the creation of animation content. You will help integrate motion data by using EA propriety technologies to maintain the highest quality animation possible. You will work with the animation teams in both pre production and on the live performance stage.

Motion Capture Supervisor:

The Motion Capture (Mocap) Supervisor is the direct link to the game team in both pre-production and live production and maintains the flow on set. The MoCap Supervisor works with development teams, post production team, the production office and mocap lead in pre-production to help develop the production plan.

Mocap Supervisor works closely with the Mocap Lead, who oversees preparation of the production shoot. They will collaborate to ensure all relevant shoot details have been collected, and the studio and technology is prepared.

During production, the Mocap Supervisor guides the shoot forward by giving directions to co-ordinate the cast and crew and manage the game team’s expectations throughout the day.

Responsibilities:

Pre-Production

  • Work with development teams, producers and post production leads in pre-production to understand project scope, tech and production requirements.
  • Develop production plans and enlist support from mocap technicians, technical artists, vendors.
  • Work with motion capture leads to ensure mocap shoots are prepped before shoot.
  • Production scheduling
  • Travel logistics for on location work
  • Help with shoot prep (prop builds, talent room set up, stage set up)

Production

  • Lead mocap production team on accomplishing production plan
  • Talent Wrangling
  • Set Etiquette
  • Communications with game development teams
  • Coordinate technical troubleshooting
  • Manage shoot flow
  • Maintain data capture quality
  • Track important session information

Post Production

  • Ensure smooth data transition from production to post production
  • Assist data wrangler in troubleshooting pipeline issues
  • Advise post production on any out of the ordinary data may arise from the shoot floor, pass along notes and session details from the shoot day.

You Have/You Are:

  • Production experience in related entertainment industry: video games, film, TV, and theater
  • Able to work under the pressures of ‘live’ production environments
  • Collaborative
  • Abilty to work independently w/ little guidance
  • Excellent time management
  • Strong technical aptitude:
  • Experience with mocap technology
  • Working knowledge of imaging hardware, accessories and file formats in digital cinema and photography
  • Maya, or motion builder experience and asset not a requirement
  • 5+ years Production experience in related entertainment industry: video games, film, TV, and theater
