Senior Software Engineer - DevOps

DRE (Development and Release Engineering) are EA’s continuous integration and build experts. We are a team of over 100, located in EA studios across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our DRE Maxis team at EA Redwood Shores, supporting The Sims franchise.

You will report to the DRE Maxis Development Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with other DRE Engineers to provide reliable CI/build systems to game development teams
  • Maintain and evolve CI/build systems and tools
  • Monitor automation systems and respond to breakages
  • Analyze automation system metrics
  • Partner with game development teams and the DRE Technical Director to determine system improvement opportunities
  • Partner with the DRE Maxis Development Director to mentor other DRE Engineers

Technical Skills

We operate in a diverse and evolving technical environment. Candidates with experience in software development and proficiency in a range of DevOps tools will be well-regarded.

Software Development

  • OO programming languages (e.g. Java, C#, C++)
  • Scripting languages (e.g. Python)
  • Source-control administration (e.g. Perforce, Git)

DevOps

  • Automation tools (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Configuration Management and Continuous Integration/Deployment
  • Cloud deployments (e.g. to AWS, Azure, Google)
  • Container technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Orchestration tools (e.g. Puppet, Terraform)
  • System administration (e.g. Linux, Windows, VMware)
  • Telemetry and monitoring systems (e.g. ELK, Splunk, DataDog)

Ideal Candidate Characteristics

  • 5+ years of Software / DevOps Engineering experience
  • Desire to collaborate with our global team
  • Experience in the gaming industry is a nice bonus
  • Active interest in the DevOps movement
  • Active contributor to the Open Source community
