What will the FX Craft Supervisor will do at EA:

•    Mentor for growth within domain – able to recognize staff expertise and growth opportunities and recommend strategic solutions to staffing challenges 
•    Has finger on the pulse of all EA studios and engine groups within their domain – techniques and processes
•    Active hands-on participant in critical project phases, to steer, influence, and align best practices – and ensure effective decision making within the domain
•    Partners with FX Domain Director, Craft Domain DD and Artworks AD (for respective studio)

Studio-Wide
•    Proactively drive quality for the craft across the studio – what we create and how we create it
•    Provide craft leadership and mentoring on both an individual and department level for FX artists
•    Ensure key workflows have clear and effective ownership within the studio (own or delegate)
•    Cultivate a strong artist community with the domain across the studio
•    Ensure the most appropriate and effective workflows, DCC software, and techniques, are being utilized across the domain within the studio
•    Maintain close alignment and regular communications with other Local Domain Supervisor counterparts, and Global Domain Director
•    Collaborate with Global Domain Director and Artworks AD to establish short and long-term roadmaps for domain
•    Mentor, support, and coach domain leadership team with career development (including regular 1:1s)
•    Support career managers with FX Artist development – through skill / performance assessments, training recommendations, 1:1 mentoring, and production assignment guidance
•    Understand future domain needs, Identify skill gaps, and work with DDs to devise strategy to accommodate
•    Work with FX Domain Dir.  and project Leads, and Artworks AD to establish and participate in delivering, effective onboarding program for domain (internal and external)
•    Domain stakeholder for all RFT studio hiring
•    Promote asset and knowledge sharing across the studio
•    Partner with Artworks CG Supervisors to ensure that the efficiency of workflows, and tools and tech from content creation to runtime are optimal
•    Partner with Artworks Art Directors and other Domain Supervisors to ensure consistent visibility and alignment 
•    Collaborate with game team ADs to identify challenges and opportunities for their respective projects and act as an escalation point for Domain-related issues 
•    Represent domain with the Artworks/Content senior leadership team and collaborate on and support cross-domain Department strategy

 

Project-Centric
•    Contribute to and help to execute on Domain roadmap/strategy for all local projects
•    Partner with project ADs and Leads at the local studio, using craft expertise to maximise visual quality taking into account constraints, timelines, and budgets
•    Ensure GDF goals for the domain, are consistently established and met, for all phases of projects
•    Identify and communicate franchise opportunities and visual priorities
•    Collaborate with Leads and project ADs during pre-pro (hands-on), to establish effective pre-production, prototyping, and look-dev process
•    Monitoring quality of domain deliverables throughout production to maintain quality standards across domain

 

Who You Are:
•    Recognized master of the FX craft – both artistically, and technically 
•    Ability to execute in multiple art styles – able to deconstruct stylistic requirements, and translate in to appropriate techniques
•    Sufficient technical knowledge to identify opportunities and limitations, and to work effectively with Technical Artists and CG Sups
•    Experience in a hands-on leadership role, delivering AAA content for at least 3 shipped games
•    Experience leading and mentoring artists within the domain
•    Recognized ‘thought leader’ within their craft, including proven problem-solving abilities – both artistic (quality/execution) and logistical (delivery/strategic)
•    Great communication skills – you will be expected to present to executives
•    Ability to articulate problems, and to formulate, communicate and drive solutions
