The Challenge Ahead

A Development Manager (DM), ensures the delivery of a game feature on time and within budget. As the Development Manager for the Lighting team at EA Redwood Shores, you would oversee the project schedule, hiring, and manage the team to achieve a high standard of product output in support of our FIFA and Madden development teams offsite. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage a development team consisting of Artists and Designers.
  • Work with feature development teams to lock down requirements and specifications.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide management escalation, project prioritization, make trade-offs, balance needs versus technical constraints, and promote initial partner deployments.
  • Identify task-related processes to improve efficiency
  • Focus on the immediate team and identify team issues and suggests solutions related to execution goals.
  • Ensure each project's setup meets the specifications with Studio.
  • Provide regular status reporting and capacity plan updates.
  • Track and implement project improvement plans to improve team efficiency.
  • Establish engagement processes, ensuring all workflows are clearly defined, practices are documented, and staff trained in expectations on the workflow.
  • Mentor individual contributors within the project team
  • Ensure all have professional development plans and conduct regular one-on-ones.

What skills does EA look for?

An EA Development Manager will have at a minimum: 4 years Project Management or Project Lead experience and 2+ years of leadership experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in any number of related fields including Computer Science, Game Development, Business or 3D Arts. A Master’s degree is a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of game production life cycles, processes and project planning.
  • Experience in a Scrum / Agile software development environment. Scrum Master Certification is desired.
  • Experience with Perforce, Visio, Shotgun, Agile or Jira.
  • Experience working on console development would be a plus
  • Experience working with broad teams, across multiple studios and time zones.
  • Mediation and conflict resolution skills
  • Background in Digital Art and Photography is a plus
