3D CHARACTER ARTIST

EA is looking for an experienced, Senior 3D Character Artist that is both artistically and technically minded. This is a rare and unique opportunity at EA to help establish a new model of game development. You will report to our team's Art Producer.

Who you are:

You are focused, with a strong attention to detail. You know the ins and outs of developing incredible characters and how they incorporate it into a mobile game. You are a driving force on quality and improvement and first line of contact for all things 3D character. And last but not least we are a distributed team and you are communicative and proactive. 

What the Senior Character Artist will do

The character artist is an essential role to the success of our game. You will create the cast of characters that users will engage with all across our game universe. You will work with animation, tech, and outsourcing to design pipelines and deliverables to create 3D characters. You will partner with production and design to ensure that all of those characters follow the design and are delivered on time. 

Requirements:

  • 7+ years in the games industry creating game ready characters
  • 2+ shipped AAA or top 50 mobile titles as a Character Artist
  • Experienced in Unity
  • Expert level skill in Maya (or 3D modeling package), Photoshop, ZBrush/Mudbox, and Texture creation/Material editing (Substance Painter/Unity)
  • An excellent understanding of color and shape language
  • You can work from limited reference material / concept art
  • Experienced in creating game resolution topology with considerations for deformation and rigging
  • Experienced in delivering high-quality assets to time and technical budget constraints
  • You can devise new workflows, troubleshoot and improve within a team to enhance character fidelity as a whole
  • Self test your work, crushing bugs without waiting for QA to find the issue
  • You can write appropriate documentation

Bonus:

  • Experience with External Development partners (setup, communication, feedback)
  • Experience working from pre-production through development and into live services.
  • Prior Senior or Lead experience
  • Remote work experience
  • Experience with RTS games
  • Experience in free-to-play games
  • An avid gamer is a plus.
