Where you fit in…

Capital Games is looking for a Sr Data Engineer to join our efforts to provide the data that powers our game analysis and reporting. You’ll be part of a data engineering team within Capital Games, working with our data scientists and analysts to architect data pipelines, support machine learning research, and will play a key role in developing and maintaining the ETL solutions necessary to provide the data that powers our game analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as technical lead and partner with members of the Analytics Team
  • Participates in design and development of Analytics solutions
  • Works with other architects, developers and data analysts to review requirements for optimal performance
  • Participates in on-going evolution, improvement, and automation of Analytics solutions
  • Provides on-going support of data warehouses and marts – perform tuning, add new data and maintain hierarchies
  • Participates in testing of all data warehouse changes
  • Develop and maintain technical vision and roadmaps based on the key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Lead the development of capabilities in all facets from strategic to tactical implementation and from conception to post deployment
  • Ensure smooth ongoing operations of data platform with high availability while making continuous improvements
  • Help key users across the entire organization to understand and consume the data sets and platform for enhanced decision making and analytics
  • Advance the data architecture and platform and ensure adherence to key architectural tenets and best practices
  • Design and implement relational and dimensional models

Skills/Requirements:

  • Must have working experience with Amazon Web Services (S3, EC2, RedShift, Data Pipeline and Kinesis)
  • Extensive experience and understanding of SQL
  • Experienced in Redshift schema design, performance optimization, capacity planning
  • Experienced in monitoring and optimizing Redshift system performance – A good understanding of Skew, Distribution, Sort Keys, Query plans and workload management.
  • Needs to have experience with various data structures, information management concepts in order to determine an appropriate implementation of end user needs.
  • Hands on experience with Redshift Copy commands, data types and back-up recovery·   
  • Machine Learning experience a plus
  • Hands on experience with  Big Data/Hadoop/EMR/Spark
  • Working experience in Linux bash/shell/python scripting and automation
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
