As the head of finance in EA’s Competitive Gaming Division (CGD) you will lead all financial aspects and projects focused on delivering the next evolution of the EA CG strategy. The role also includes leading the finance business partnering engagement process with key CG team leaders and internal/external partners.

As the CG finance leader you will be responsible to:

  • Partner with the CG leadership team to develop key business strategies and related financial plans and budgets.
  • Lead activities to partner with key teams, defining finance models and processes and gathering and analyzing budget requirements against P&L goals.
  • Improve finance processes to optimize how CG works with key internal and external partners as appropriate in support of major programs
  • Define appropriate engagement models with key partners
  • Define and track our financial performance indicators for major projects
  • Manage the financial forecast process and communicate the financial reporting of outlook, risks and opportunities to the central Strategic Growth Initiatives (SGI) finance team

Major Initiative Related Activities:

  • Stand up the business model for the “unannounced project” and put in place all finance operational procedures to support smooth execution
  • Manage the finance relationship, business model structure and reporting to external teams for the “unannounced project”
  • Support CG Leadership in setting and managing the budgets for all aspects of each of EAs competitive gaming programs (FIFA, Madden, Apex, FIFA Online 4, and new endeavors)
  • Creation and ongoing maintenance of P&Ls for each line of business in CG and consolidated CG P&L reporting
  • Provide concise Quarterly reporting to the central SGI finance team. Report on variance rationale and field questions
  • Support CG leadership in providing financial reporting and related insights to support internal CG reporting and BoD and related reporting.
  • Lead all financial aspects of our decisions for CG - including financial forecasts and reporting & analysis for our executives.
  • Oversee the CG monthly close activities working with both the business and accounting.
  • Dive deep into the numbers shedding light into close and forecast numbers and provide key insights to help support the business.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks and risks, provide management escalation and partner with the business leads to identify trade-offs to de-risk while working to maintain financial goals
  • Create and then hold the team accountable to deliverables
  • Balance priorities, and find creative solutions that achieve results
  • Focus on the critical few: filter issues based on a clear understanding of strategies; help the team break down complex problems

Team-related

  • Manage the FP&A CG business partnering team. Includes both direct management of onshore team members and dotted line management of offshore team members.
  • Develop future resource plans to ensure financial support of all aspects of CG in line with growth
  • Share with and implement best practices, processes, and standards as needed
  • Work across the CG teams and finance team to enable activation of major programs within EA

Business / Partnerships

  • Provide meaningful insights and financial leadership to the CG leadership team.
  • Build business partnerships with different teams and external partners to support major programs; proactively share financial updates and status
  • Create and guide appropriate financial reporting for key programs

Key experiences / capabilities

  • 10 or more years experience in mid-level to senior finance roles
  • Preference for experience working in eSports
  • In-depth knowledge of financial planning and analysis
  • Preference for an understanding of the game development process
  • Experience evaluating performance metrics and implementing action plans
  • Can lead large strategic programs autonomously
  • Comfortable interacting with business partners at the Exec level
  • Navigate complex global relationships
