Electronic Arts’ Firemonkeys Studio in Melbourne, Australia is regarded throughout the industry as a leader in delivering high quality, engaging games on iOS and Android.  We regularly release substantial updates for our acclaimed live mobile titles, including Real Racing 3The Sims FreePlay and Need for Speed: No Limits.

The Role 

As an Artist you will be managing outsourcing and will be partnering with leads to maintain and enforce creation pipeline, own quality checks and enforce delivery targets on your project. You will be the driving force on improvements to these workflows and first line of contact with the day to day vendor relationship. You have a strong art background and strong time management skills. In this role you may be forced to juggle many responsibilities and problem solve art development issues as they arise. You will be acting as the main gatekeeper for our external vendor work and your artistic eye will be vital in making sure our deliveries are strong.

Responsibilities:

Artistic

  • Conduct daily reviews and send feedback on the art and technical quality of vendor submissions.
  • Partner with your lead to ensure briefs are created and delivered in a timely manner.
  • You have the ability to polish or bug fix small issues from vendor submissions, that either fall out of the scope of the vendors work on it, or are deemed quick enough to fix internally to send back. Larger asset creation tasks may be required, based on availability.
  • At a higher level, act as an Art Director contact for the vendors. You will show them best practices and unblock their workflow issues. Raise any difficult design questions to internal team for clarification.
  • Partnering with your team, create and maintain our OneNote documentation. Identify any holes in our workflows and help document these out. Add in notes for other team members to complete if a full writeup is beyond scope. Vet and include vendor suggestions to our documentation.
  • Create tutorials on best practices. Work with the lead and other team member to ensure any workflow request for vendors do not sit idle for long.

Management

  • Update our tracking software, Jira and Shotgun, with estimates of assets and delivery dates based on information from our vendors. Keep our dashboards and pages in good standing to our projects schedule.
  • Create rules and procedures in our tracking software to identify risks, overages, internal changes and extra time requests. Keep our tracking software dashboards up to date and usable with our filters.
  • Partner with the External Development Director to ensure the vendors are hitting their performance targets by conducting monthly reviews on deliveries.
  • Drive the relationship with the Vendor and be the main point of contact for our day to day communication.
  • Report any issues that need immediate attention, either through email or our Jira Dashboard reports, to the External Development Director.

Technical

  • Raise any technical issues that the vendors might be experiencing to the team. Test improvements to the creation process and track requests from vendors on tool improvements.
  • Help the DD communicate technical pipeline and workflow requirements to new vendors during an onboarding phase.
