Position Overview

 

We are seeking an experienced game development leader for our Head of Development role. This position will own and deliver the game development direction for EA Studios Europe (EASE), and would report to the SVP Group GM of EASE.

 

For this impactful role, the right person will provide risk management, expert knowledge and product process vision to our EASE group.

 

Our EASE group consists of the following game development studios: Criterion Games in Guildford, DICE in Stockholm, DICE Operations in Stockholm, and Ghost Games in Gothenburg. These game development studios have delivered critically acclaimed blockbuster games such as Battlefield™, Need for Speed™, and Star Wars: Battlefront™.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Leadership

  • In partnership with the Head of Operations, the Head of Technology and local leadership team, implement the BU roadmap and supporting execution plan.
  • Partner and review with Studio Senior Producers and Franchise Development Directors on franchise planning and execution. 
  • Develop, maintain, and publish BU KPIs that track project quality, delivery, financials, and risks.

 

Product Development

  • Validate and audit cross franchise development plans.
  • Conduct project plan reviews with each of the franchise teams according to milestone gates; ensure consistent and timely delivery by verifying the team’s leadership has a strategy to execute against key milestones with robust mitigation plans tailored to surfaced risks.
  • Own alignment of studio franchise requirements in partnership with external or central team partners. Provide resolution to project escalation between studio teams and partner organizations where necessary.
  • Own development process improvement for the EASE group. Through direct and dotted-line reports drives transparent, predictable and value-add processes for quality product delivery and drives efficiencies and new ways of thinking with a goal of increasing profitability.
  • Play a key role in shaping the development processes for the EASE groups in partnership with other key stakeholders and exec.
  • Own exploration with outsource partners and with new avenues of operating.

 

Business Management

  • Responsible for the development budget planning process, working closely with the Head of Operations, the Head of Technology, our finance partners, and the Franchise leadership teams.  Responsible for executing against a BU-approved budget.  
  • Establish an environment where franchise leaders can effectively manage and measure the AEM components of their games and are measured on their ability to achieve KPI’s for these components.

 

Requirements:

 

Qualifications 

  • 10+ years’ experience in game development.
  • Successful track record in leading the project delivery of AAA game franchises
  • Significant project and risk management experience.
  • Proven experience in providing complex project solutions across multiple disciplines that consider process, product, and people.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of games-as-a-service is considered a strong plus.
