Position Title: Software Engineer I

External Description:

We are DICE

DICE (EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment), the award-winning studio based in Stockholm, Sweden, is best known for creating the phenomenally successful Battlefield franchise, the Battlefront franchise, and the innovative game Mirror’s Edge.

We work through our 4 guiding values: Passion with Purpose, Creative Innovation, Everything Quality, and One Community. We recognize that our people are the backbone and driving force to our creative products. As such, we are dedicated in providing everyone the ability to express, learn, and be their very best with a common cause.

The DICE UI team creates the layer between fiction and reality. Our mission to immerse players makes DICE UI technology challenging and fun. Challenges are given by UX design, but also rendering performance. At DICE, nothing is impossible and if a feature makes the experience better for our players, we will make it work.

We are expanding our UI team and we need an experienced C++ developer. You love to simplify and challenge existing ideas, but you also use what someone else has built to achieve your goals. You understand the importance of well-structured code, best practices and tested code. Whether it’s optimization, feature development or rewriting bug-prone code you will do it to take us further and, in the end, make our players see and feel something amazing that they have not experienced before.

As a Senior UI Software engineer at DICE, you will work with artists, scripters, game designers and producers in cross-disciplinary feature teams. Sometimes you will face intense periods of research and coding pushing the boundaries of what is possible to do with today’s hardware and software. If an artist wants an effect that we don’t have in our engine, we will simply create it. At DICE, we live on the edge of technology. Pushing boundaries is not just something we say we do, it will be your job.

Things we like to see at DICE UI

  • A love for playing and making games
  • Take an idea from start to finish on your own
  • Experience working with game engines and developing games for modern platforms
  • 3+ years of experience in C++ experience
  • Work in a value collaboration and creative environment
  • Willingness to share knowledge throughout the team

Good to have experience with

  • Prototyping, and able to quickly sketch out ideas before diving into implementation
  • Test-driven development
  • Develop new systems
  • Use multiple engines and tools
  • Render
  • UX
  • C# development experience
  • Experience developing and optimizing low-level game engine code on multiple platforms

What’s in it for you? Glad you asked!

At DICE we take care of our staff and have done so during our steady growth over the last decade. In addition to a great compensation package, we offer our employees 10 EA games per year, massage every three weeks, a variety of sports activities (yoga and cross fit to name a few) and healthcare allowance. We have a collective bargain agreement with Unionen and Sveriges Ingenjörer and also provide our employees with an occupational pension.
